Bond Hearings and Bond Reduction Hearings

A Bond Hearing is usually requested very early in a case. It is very common to request these in cases that, by default, have no bond set by statute. This is very common in Violation of Probation cases. The hearing is held and the Judge determines if a bond is appropriate and the amount at which the bond should be set. A Bond Reduction Hearing is just what it sounds like. It is a hearing where bond has already been set in a case, but the Defendant requests that the bond be lower.

Many people think that an attorney can just be hired for a bond hearing. This is often not true, as many, if not all Judges, will require the Attorney to appear on behalf of the Defendant for the entire case in order to be heard at all by the Judge.
