Why Do I Have To Pay Back My Health Insurance Company?

Listen as Florida attorney Charles Draper explains why you may have to pay back your health insurance company after they paid your medical bills.

You had a car accident and your health insurance company paid the medical bills on your behalf. You made a recovery against the at-fault driver's insurance, and now your health insurance company is asking for repayment of the medical bills that they paid for you. You may be wondering, “Why do I have to pay them back?”

There is a reimbursement provision in most health insurance policies, but we can negotiate that for you. In most cases, we're able to negotiate a reduction in the amount that you will have to repay to your health insurance. Florida law allows us to reduce the amount that they paid by attorney's fees, costs, and other mitigating factors.

For example, if the value of your claim is $50,000 and we only collect $10,000 because that is the policy limit, then it would be unfair for you to have to repay 100% to your health insurance when you got a fraction of your recovery of the total value of your claim. Watch the video to learn more.
