Listen as Kissimmee personal injury attorney, Charles Draper, explains what to do if you are injured in an accident and the officer does not give out a traffic ticket.
In Florida, we see many cases where the investigating officer doesn’t give out a traffic ticket following an accident. This is frequent in cases where there are conflicting versions of how the accident itself occurred. Examples could include cases a driver thought they had a green light or thought the other driver had a red light, so consequently this is something that we handle fairly routinely.
One thing we can do to help you would be to see if the accident took place at an intersection with traffic cameras, and if that’s the case, we go the local authorities that control the traffic cameras and get copies of the live feed of the accident. The next thing we do is go to the accident scene and take pictures at different angles to establish where in the different lanes the initial impact took place. We will look to see if there are any skid marks, and this will help us to reconstruct what happened in the accident.
We will also look at the any of the actual vehicles involved. Oftentimes, we also canvas the surrounding neighborhoods and businesses to see if we can locate any witnesses who might tell us what they observed. Watch the video to learn more.
