Listen as Florida attorney Charlie Draper explains the effects of traumatic brain injuries.

If you were involved in a car accident and you hit your head, it is important to seek immediate assistance so a doctor can assess your injury. It may be that you sustained a traumatic brain injury.

A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an injury to the head and brain cells that causes dysfunction. It is the result of a violent impact to the head or an intense jolt to head and neck. There is whole array of different psychological, cognitive and physical symptoms that can appear, depending on the severity and the type of injury to the brain.

Physical symptoms you may suffer as a result of a TBI include: Loss of Consciousness, Headache, Dizziness, Blurred Vision, Disorientation or Confusion, Nausea, Sleepiness, Fatigue, Ringing in the Ears, Sensitivity to Light or Sound, Inability to Smell or Taste.

It is important to note that these symptoms can appear immediately, or they may be delayed by days or weeks after the accident.

If you suffered a traumatic brain injury, you could also experience cognitive or emotional symptoms, such as problems with your memory or concentration, or even depression or anxiety. We urge you to take these types of injuries seriously. Watch the video to learn more.
