Motorcyclist Killed In Kissimmee Accident

MotorcycleAccident13

Motorcycles can get into accidents in a number of ways. One common type of crash is a left-turn accident. When a vehicle attempts to turn left while a motorcycle is approaching, the result can be fatal.

Unfortunately, this was recently the case in Kissimmee. A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash involving a pickup truck. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of May 20 on Orange Blossom Trail.

A 58-year-old man from Kissimmee was heading west on Orange Blossom Trail in a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. He was in the left turn lane as he approached the intersection at Alexander Street.

At the same time, a 31-year-old man Davenport was riding a Suzuki DR-Z400SM motorcycle. He was traveling east on Orange Blossom Trail. He was in the inside lane as he approached Alexander Street.

The driver of the pickup truck attempted to make a left turn onto Alexander Street, entering the direct path of the motorcycle. The two vehicles collided, with the right side of the pickup truck hitting the front of the motorcycle. The impact caused the Davenport man to be ejected from the motorcycle.

The man on the motorcycle was taken to Osceola Regional Hospital, where he later died. The man driving the pickup truck suffered minor injuries. He remained at the accident scene. The accident remains under investigation.

Left-Turn Crashes

Left-turn crashes involving motorcycles are common. This most commonly occurs when a turning vehicle hits a motorcycle that is going straight through an intersection. There are several reasons why this may occur. However, the most common reason is visibility.

Left turns can be blind spots for drivers of passenger cars and other large vehicles. This is especially true when there are road obstructions, such as poles, trees, or other vehicles. Environmental conditions, such as rain, snow, and glare from the sun, can also make it hard to see approaching vehicles.

When this happens, motorcycles tend to blend in with the environment. They are smaller than passenger vehicles, making them difficult to see. Because of this, the driver doesn’t see the oncoming motorcycle until it’s too late. The end result is that the two vehicles collide, causing serious injuries or fatalities.

These accidents can be prevented with defensive driving by all parties involved. This means looking both ways before turning and making sure the coast is clear before entering the intersection. Motorcyclists should also be aware of their surroundings and anticipate that drivers may be unable to see them.
