What to Do If Your Minor Child Was Taken Away by the Other Parent

Listen as Kissimmee family law attorney, Linda Gruszynski explains what you can do if you are the parent of a minor child whose other parent has left with that child.

It is important to know that as the mother of a child, you have the legal right to the child by nature. As the father, if the child was not born during marriage to the mother, then you must establish paternity in order to exercise legal rights as the father.

Once you have established paternity by filing a petition with the court, you can then file a motion for an emergency pick up order. A previous client was successful in doing this, as the mother had taken the child to a foreign country that was experiencing a civil war. This created a dangerous situation for the child.

The court entered an order to grant the emergency pick up, and the mother was required to return to the United States and return the child to the father. Watch the video to learn more.
